Kalwun’s Health Service offers a Social Health Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people suffering from mental health illness and/or substance use disorders.
The program offers case management and care coordination support and works to improve the social and emotional wellbeing of individuals and reduce the harm associated with alcohol and other drug (AoD) use.
The Deadly Choices program aims to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to make healthy choices for themselves and their families.
These healthy choices include to stop smoking, to eat good food and exercise daily. Deadly Choices also encourages our people to complete their annual ‘Health Check’.
Youth Wellbeing Program
The program aims to build on positive change, strengthen relationships with families and support networks as well as improve life skills and choices.
Kalwun supports young people through a combination of case management, mentoring and group activities. All work is person-centred and designed to meet the needs of children and young people.
Psychologists specialise in human behaviour and can help people with the way they think, react and feel. They can help clients deal with a range of issues from trauma and loss to anxiety, addiction and behavioural problems.
Psychiatrists are experts in mental health and can diagnose and treat issues and prescribe relevant medication.
