Programs

Social Health Service

Kalwun’s Health Service offers a Social Health Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people suffering from mental health illness and/or substance misuse disorders.

The program offers case management and care coordination support and works to improve the social and emotional wellbeing of individuals and reduce the harm associated with social and emotional wellbeing, suicide ideation/attempts and alcohol and other drug (AoD) use.

The program aims to improve the health outcomes and quality of life for our people suffering from these illnesses and empower them through joint decision making and recovery-orientated practice. It also works to reduce potentially preventable hospitalisation and encourage access to more appropriate use of existing mental health and AoD resources.

Deadly Choices

The Deadly Choices program aims to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to make healthy choices for themselves and their families.

These healthy choices include to stop smoking, to eat good food and exercise daily. Deadly Choices also encourages our people to complete their annual ‘Health Check’.

Youth Wellbeing Program (don’t provide – Kalwun Families does)

The program aims to build on positive change, strengthen relationships with families and support networks as well as improve life skills and choices.
Kalwun supports young people through a combination of case management, mentoring and group activities. All work is person-centred and designed to meet the needs of children and young people.
