Programs

Breakthrough for Families Qld

Breakthrough for Families Qld is an information, referral and support program for family members, significant others and loved ones of people who are experiencing alcohol or other drug issues. Our team provide non-judgemental and confidential support to individuals, families and communities. We help family members and significant others to understand alcohol and other drug use, and what they can do to help their loved one. We can also provide strategies to make changes to their own circumstances, implement healthy boundaries and build resilience. Our experienced team can help families and significant others navigate the health system, and connect them to specialist workers and other health services. We also provide regular community information sessions for families on alcohol and other drugs.

Breakthrough Our Way

Breakthrough Our Way is a free program developed by Queensland Aboriginal Islander Health Council in partnership with Apunipima for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families affected by another person’s alcohol or other drug use. Families and community members can attend the information sessions and families can access ongoing support.

Creating Options

Creating Options is a twelve week treatment program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who want help to address issues related to their alcohol or other drug use. Our team of specialists provide non-judgemental and confidential support through weekly counselling sessions and case management. We can help in areas such as relapse prevention, coping strategies, relationship skills, anger management, emotional regulation, mental health, and other life skills support. Creating Options can also help to coordinate care by engaging with existing healthcare and social services providers, or connecting to new providers. Our holistic approach means we help with all of the issues that might be contributing to, and maintaining, alcohol and other drug use. We work with each person to identify their goals, and provide practical solutions to make progress towards them.

Intake, assessment and referral

Open referrals, anyone can make an appointment.

When you contact drug ARM,  their team will help to match you with a program that fits your objectives, preferences, and the type of issues you are dealing with. Different programs have different approaches and areas of focus, so it’s important for them to engage you with the program that can achieve the best results for you. If you need support outside of what they can offer, they can refer or connect you to other services.
