Programs

The Amend Program – Evidence based relapse prevention and parenting enhancement program offered to pregnant women and mothers of any age. There will be up to 18 one-hour counselling sessions in the individuals’ home, or in an alternative outreach setting. The program covers:

  • Information about the impacts of substance use during pregnancy, breastfeeding and parenting
  • Knowing what to do when cravings, triggers and high-risk situations make you want to use substances
  • How to manage difficult thinking styles and beliefs that lead to substance use
  • Ways to manage stress, depression, anxiety and other symptoms
  • Ways to improve interpersonal relationships, communication and assertion skills
  • Creating social and community supports and finding substance-free fun, relaxing and creative things to do with your time
  • Managing your money and making wise goals for the future.
  • Counselling and support to children affected by parental substance use

Information and education – Individual and group-based harm minimisation information and education sessions to women who:

  • are pregnant or considering pregnancy
  • are receiving services at other agencies
  • are returning to the community following incarceration, or just need some information to help them make decisions about substance use.

Mental Health & Family Wellbeing Services – face-to-face services counselling in Greater Brisbane regions and the Gold Coast. There is also online counselling support to other areas of Queensland, including rural and remote communities.

Specifically, they offer counselling services for:

  • Family and relationships
  • Children’s counselling
  • Domestic and Family Violence – Living Without Violence
  • Male victims of sexual assault – Living Well
  • Emergency Relief
  • Children and Parenting

Drug Diversion Program – this program provides assessment and education sessions to clients diverted by the courts or police for minor drug offences. Each Drug Diversion session is a 1.5 hour assessment and education session. Clients are provided with relevant information to enable them to make informed decisions about their substance use, and are provide with referral pathway options where applicable.

Drug Diversion Program – All referrals for drug diversion services are made by the arresting police officer or the court officer to the Diversion Coordination Service. The diversion coordination service then makes a referral to us as the service provider.

Clients are now also eligible for 6 counselling session on completion of their diversion. Referrals by other police, court and the criminal justice system can also be accepted. These sessions can be delivered face to face or over the phone.

  • Currently is offered within the greater Brisbane region (from Burpengary to Waterford and from Wynnum West to Ferny Grove) and on the Gold Coast (from Coolangatta to Coomera).
