Programs

Drug Diversion Program

The Drug Diversion Program provides a 1.5 hour assessment and education session to clients diverted by the courts or police for minor drug offences.

During the session, clients are asked demographic and general health questions which are entered onto the Drug Diversion central data base. This shows that clients have attended and participated in the session. Any other assessment information collected during client appointment are confidential and designed to identify and best meet client ‘s needs.

Clients are now also eligible for 6 counselling session on completion of their diversion. Referrals by other police, court and the criminal justice system can also be accepted. These sessions can be delivered face to face or over the phone

For additional information about Drug Diversion Programs, go to the Queensland Courts website or the Queensland Police Service website.

AOD Counselling Services: Recovery Pathways

We offer continuity of service for clients who have completed a PCD session with us, or for people who are over 18 years old, experiencing moderate-to-severe alcohol and other drug (AOD) challenges. This service is designed to work with the client, to develop a plan around goals they want to work towards to reduce the impact of substance use on their life, health, and wellbeing.

The Recovery Pathways service offers up to 12 one-hour counselling sessions with an experienced AOD counsellor in one of our offices, over the phone and via video conferencing.

Intake, assessment and referral

All referrals for drug diversion services are made by the arresting police officer or the court officer to Diversion Coordination Services. The Diversion Coordination Service then makes a referral to Anglicare Southern Queensland.

Appointments are unable to re-scheduled by Anglicare. If a client is experiencing difficulties making the allocated appointment, the client will need to take the following actions:

Contact the arresting officer or court officer (contact number should appear on the appointment form) and inform them that they will be unable to make the scheduled appointment and request a reschedule.

If a new appointment is approved, Anglicare Southern Queensland will receive a new referral via Diversion Coordination Services and a new time and date will be issued to the client via the Police or Courts.
