The Association of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies NT (AADANT) Professional Development Forum 2022 will host social worker and trauma specialist Lauren Buckley who will present Substance Use and Trauma: A Neurobiological Approach.

In this workshop participants will learn:

• how the brain and nervous system work and how trauma creates stress in the body
• why clients use certain substances and why they keep relapsing
• how to identify fight, flight and freeze patterns in the nervous systems of clients
• how to better read the body language of clients during intake, assessment and interventions.

The workshop is designed for clinicians, counsellors, and alcohol and other drug (AOD) staff working therapeutically with clients.

The afternoon sessions are designed for local organisations to understand new and existing programs provided by other services.
