Toowong Private Hospital (TPH) is a family-owned private hospital committed to delivering excellence in psychiatric care and quality services that promotes your mental health and wellbeing. There is a professional team supports patients through every step of their treatment program and offer genuine compassion and care. Each specialised program is delivered by experienced mental health practitioners including psychiatrists, senior psychiatry registrars, psychologists, registered and enrolled nurses, occupational therapists and social workers.

Programs

Inpatient programs: they are designed to provide short-term inpatient treatment and care during an acute phase of mental illness. Programs include:

• Acute Admission Program
• Tailored Therapy
• Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
• Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS)

Day patient programs: an outpatient basis service to allow patients attending their treatment program during the day and then return home or wherever they are staying.

Day patient military programs: designed for military and ex-military personnel to help them recover in a supportive environment, share similar experiences and become more engaged socially. Programs include:

• Trauma Recovery Program
• Trauma Relapse Prevention Program
• Anger Management Program
• Alcohol Day Treatment Program

Community based programs: offered in place of hospital admission, to support patients following discharge from hospital, or to help prevent relapse. Programs include:

• Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)
• Mobile Recovery Support Service (MRSS)
• Mental Health Nursing in Brisbane (MHNiB)

Intake, assessment and referral

Patients can only be admitted to TPH by psychiatrists granted admitting privileges to the hospital.

General practitioners and psychiatrists without admitting privileges can contact the Hospital’s Doctors Admission Service on 1300 131 243 for further information on how to make a referral.
