About Southern Downs – Alcohol and Other Drugs Services (AODS)

Southern Downs Alcohol and Other Drugs Service or also known as Warwick AODS is a nurse led AODS service that provides AODS support to consumers in the Southern Downs Region ie: Warwick, Stanthorpe, Goondiwindi, Inglewood, Millmerran and Texas.

Southern Downs Alcohol and Other Drugs Service assists Toowoomba Alcohol and Other Drugs Service with their clientele on the Queensland Opioid Treatment Program (QOTP) that live in the Southern Downs region (No QOTP prescriber in Southern Downs Alcohol and Other Drugs Service).

Programs

• Consultation Liaison (Provide AODS support to GP and hospital staff in hospital and community settings to assist in coordination of treatment eg. Withdrawal detox or general AODS enquiries)

• Case management for AODS clients including brief intervention and counselling (Psychosocial)

• Offer Nyxoid training and dispense Nyxoid sprays for harm minimalization• Engagement with other stakeholders to inform of Southern Downs AODS services eg. Gp clinics, meetings with other NGO’s or government organisations in rural settings

• Referrals, contacts and walk-ins
• Drug and Alcohol Assessment
• Case management
• Information and support for family and carers
• Referral to other organisations

Voluntary Service – Consumer must provide verbal consent and have capacity to consent.

Additional information

Cover the following areas including Stanthorpe, Texas, Inglewood, Goondiwindi, Warwick.

Outreach to Warwick Hospital, Stanthorpe Hospital and Goondiwindi Hospital weekly. Can outreach to Millmerran, Inglewood and Texas Multi-Purpose Clinics if requested.
