Experts by experience – Peer training workshops – Bethania

QuIHN will be running free workshops for people with a lived experience of substance use.

These workshops are for people who are interested in learning about the role of peer workers
in alcohol and drug (AOD) services.

The focus will be on how to bring your lived experience to AOD services and develop skills and understanding that will assist you to be an effective peer worker.

The workshops will cover the following topics:

  • The role of the peer worker & why it is important
  • The value of peers & peer work
  • Introduction to the alcohol & drug sector & services
  • Skills & knowledge – communication, conflict, disclosure, boundaries, values, feedback
  • Self-care – looking after yourself as a lived experience worker

Each group of workshops will take place over 3 sessions, focusing on a different topic each session.

The second group of workshops to take place at Bethania – Bethania Community Centre on the following dates:

Workshop 1 Tues 28thMay 10am – 1pm
Workshop 2 Thurs 30th May 10am – 1pm
Workshop 3 Tues 4th June 10am – 1pm

Light refreshments will be provided.
Certificates of Completion provided to all participants.
